We currently have an outstanding career opportunity available for an IT Manager at our corporate headquarters in Bethesda, MD. The successful candidate will regularly interface with staff from a portfolio of companies and therefore a responsive, service-oriented personality is a must.
Reports to: Sr. Director, Marketing & Technology Supervises: Database Administrator, Systems Administrator/Support Tech
The primary role of the IT Manager is to ensure that the company’s technology infrastructure supports the needs of the business. The IT Manager is responsible for systems administration and security, setting IT policy and documenting protocol, infrastructure strategic planning and introducing technology solutions to meet business needs, project management for a number of operating unit and corporate projects requiring IT leadership, IT vendor management, certain aspects of facilities management and oversight of the support desk to ensure smooth sailing for end users’ day-to-day IT needs.
Primary responsibilities:
- Ensure systems continuity and optimal performance; including telecommunications, networking, database, server and client backups
- Set, communicate and monitor IT policies including security protocol
- Ensure compliance with relevant data laws
- Solve hardware and software issues escalated from HelpDesk support and ensure HelpDesk service levels are maintained
- Help plan and implement technology solutions; scope out requirements to provide to vendors and stakeholders, advise on risks and costs
- Project manage simultaneous IT projects
- Work with database administrator on enhancements to our CRM system and database
- Serve as primary point of contact for IT vendors, work to obtain master agreements and cost savings where applicable
- Establish strategy for keeping hardware and software up-to-date; Define our hardware replacement strategy (full computer lifecycle)
- Provide documentation about our IT policies for client contracts
- IT installs for office openings
- IT training curriculum development
- IT budgeting
- Remain up-to-date and knowledgeable in regards to industry trends and emerging technologies in anticipation of new business processes and system alterations
- Analyze and improve upon technology standards across the organization
Required Skills:
- Proficiency with Mac Platforms, Windows experience
- OS 10.6 Server
- Apple Remote Desktop
- IMAP and POP email accounts
- Networking, DNS, IP, Apache
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite
- Basic technical knowledge and troubleshooting of computer servers, networks, work stations, fax and copy machines, routers, firewalls, telecommunications, multimedia and A/V equipment
- Some programming language familiarity (Lasso, PHP, JavaScript, object oriented coding and/or UML)
- Acronis and Retrospect backup software
- Helpdesk ticket management software
Bonus Skills:
- MySQL database, SQL and Crystal Reports
- VOIP experience
- Active Directory/ LDAP
Experience:
- 2 years managing technical operations (Mac environment preferred)
- Solid understanding of computer systems characteristics, features, and integration capabilities
- Experience in strategic technology planning and execution
- Excellent understanding of project management principles

- Ability and willingness to work extended/non-core hours as business needs warrant
